Water parades, allegorical floats, widespread performances, historical reenactments!
The Venice Carnival 2025 celebrates the 300th anniversary of Giacomo Casanova with a special edition titled “The Time of Casanova,” dedicated to the timeless figure of the Venetian icon.
The Carnival will kick off with a special “Valentine’s Day” evening on Friday, February 14th, in St. Mark’s Square to celebrate love and romance. As per tradition, the first weekend will honor water with the traditional boat parade on Sunday, February 16th.
Throughout the event, celebrations will fill the city with open-air performances in the squares and streets, thanks to the “Venice Carnival Street Show,” which features lots of events in Venice, Mestre, the islands, and surrounding municipalities.
The allegorical float parades will return across the area, from the islands to Mestre, encompassing the Venetian mainland (Dese, Chirignago, Pellestrina, Lido di Venezia, Marghera, Burano, Campalto, Mestre, and Zelarino).
Highlights include the return of the Commedia dell’Arte with international comedians, the official ball at Ca’ Vendramin Calergi, the 12 beautiful Marie, cultural events, music for young audiences at the Arsenale and Forte Marghera, as well as world carnivals showcasing their traditions on the St. Mark’s Square stage.
